2004 RIVER CITY ROUNDUP
PARADE
FIELD EXHIBITION
May
2004
Dear
Colleague:
We
would like to announce that the Twenty-Fourth Annual River City Roundup Parade
will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2004. The parade will be held in
downtown Omaha and is open to Iowa and Nebraska high school bands. There is
no entry fee for the parade. As of August 1st, we will send
out more information and you may visit our website at http://music.unomaha.edu/ for more information as well as online
applications.
Enrollment will be limited
to only 15 high school bands for the parade. Eligibility will be determined by
the postmarked date, previous River City Roundup participation, band resume, and
geographic location. Please note that bands wishing to participate in the
Marching Band Field Exhibition at UNO must also participate in the River
City Roundup Parade. Every year we are forced to turn away some bands that
apply. Please complete your application carefully and observe the deadline of
September 1, 2004.
Again this year, we will
host an exhibition for marching bands at UNO also on Saturday, September 25th.
All bands accepted for the RCR Parade are eligible to participate in RCR
exhibition. The Exhibition will be Saturday, September 25th. The
Exhibition will begin around 5:30 PM after the UNO football game scheduled to
start at 1pm.
This is an excellent
opportunity for your students to perform their competition show (or part of it)
for critique in a non-threatening, positive atmosphere. Our parade judges and
members of the University Bands staff will provide taped critiques and will
clinic the ensemble, in person, following your performance. This exhibition is
provided for participating bands at no charge by the River City Roundup
and the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Please contact us if you
have any questions or need additional information. We look forward to seeing you
in Omaha on September 25th.
Sincerely,
James Saker
