Darren Pettit received his bachelors degree in saxophone
performance from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1995. While
attending UNO, he was awarded the Presser Scholarship and the Dean's
Award from the College of Fine Arts. He then received a full scholarship
to the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music where
he received a masters degree in saxophone performance. After graduating
from CCM, Mr. Pettit moved back to Omaha and has worked as a freelance
musician and private teacher.
Mr. Pettit has performed and/or recorded
with the Omaha Big Band, the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra, the Notables,
the Heartland of America Band, Chuck Penington, Mannheim Steamroller,
the Omaha Symphony with Manhattan Transfer, Bobby Vinton, Delbert McClinton,
the Four Tops, the Diamonds, the Crystals, the Mighty Jailbreakers,
the Confidentials, Suzie Thorne, and many others.
Currently, Darren is the Artist-Faculty Instructor of Saxophone at UNOmaha
where he teaches saxophone and directs the Omaha Area Youth Jazz Ensemble.
He also maintains a large private studio and is in constant demand as
a performer.
