Jennifer Bales performs dual roles in the Omaha community as a part-time faculty member at UNO and serving in the United States Air Force Heartland of America Band at Offutt Air Force Base, Omaha, Nebraska. As an Air Force Band member she performs as Principal Trumpet with the Concert Band, and is both 1st Trumpet and the Noncommissioned Officer in Charge of the Offutt Brass Quintet. In the Air Force Band, UNOmaha, and as an area free-lancer, Ms Bales performs over 200 concerts, master classes, clinics and ceremonies each year. A highly versatile player, she can be found performing in a variety of venues, including polka bands, dance bands, marching bands, brass quintets, chamber orchestras, etc.Before joining the Air Force, Ms Bales performed two seasons as Principal Trumpet with La Orquesta Sinfonica de Sevilla (Spain), where she can be heard on the CD Gala Lirica , with Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras. Additionally, Ms Bales performed over 300 concerts as extra trumpet with the Houston Symphony Orchestra, the Houston Grand Opera, and the Houston Ballet Orchestra. Further orchestral performing includes the Ft. Worth Symphony, the Arkansas Festival Orchestra, the Texas Festival Orchestra, the Grand Tetons Orchestra, the Chicago Civic Orchestra, the Pasadena Philharmonic, the Woodlands Symphony, and the DFW Metropolitan Orchestra.
Ms Bales has had the pleasure of performing with a wide range of conductors, and performers, including Robert Shaw, Henry Mancinni, Michael Tilson Thomas, Van Cliburn, Jessi Norman, Christoph Eschenbach, the Smothers Brothers, Chip Davis, Bill Watrous, and Willie Nelson. Additionally, she has performed for numerous dignitaries, including Presidents Reagan, G. Bush, Clinton and G.W. Bush, as well as the King, Queen and Prince of Spain and the King of Afganistan . Her teachers include Vince Cichowicz, Arnold Jacobs, John DeWitt and Robert Walp.
