Jonathan Blaise Biccum joined the faculty at the University of Nebraska
at Omaha in 2007 where he teaches bassoon. He is the principal bassoonist
in the USAF Heartland of America Band (2004-present) and has also served
as a member of the Lincoln Symphony playing 2nd bassoon/contrabassoon
since 2004. Prior to moving to Nebraska, Mr. Biccum played with the
Civic Orchestra of Chicago, the Greater Lansing Symphony Orchestra,
Westshore Symphony Orchestra, Jackson Symphony Orchestra, and the Moscow
State Radio Symphony Orchestra. He holds a Masters in Bassoon Performance
from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from
Michigan State University; his teachers include Bill Buchman, Robert
Barris, Barrick Steesm, and Shawn Mouser. In addition to teaching applied
bassoon at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Jonathan maintains a
private bassoon studio.
