Mark Barnette received his Bachelor of Music degree from Oberlin College
Conservatory in 1993 where he studied with Ron Bishop, and went on to
receive his Master of Music degree from Rice University, where he studied
with David Kirk. He is also a graduate of the Interlochen Arts Academy.
Other teachers have included Harvey Phillips and Craig Fuller. As a
performer, Mr. Barnette has participated in the Sewanee Summer Music
Center, the National Music Camp, the Grand Tetons Orchestral Seminar,
and the Waterloo Music Festival. Professional engagements include performances
with the Houston Symphony, the Lincoln Symphony, and the Omaha Symphony.
Currently, Mr. Barnette is serving in the United States Air Force as
a member of the Heartland of America Band at Offutt Air Force Base,
Nebraska. He began teaching tuba at the University of Nebraska at Omaha
in the fall of 2001.
