Low Down Brass Ensemble

The UNO Low Down Brass Ensemble consists of the finest
trombone, euphonium, and tuba players on campus. Under the direction
of Dr. Pete Madsen, the ensemble plays a variety of literature including
transcriptions, student compositions, original works for low brass ensemble,
and jazz and pop tunes. They perform several concerts each semester
on campus, in the community, and throughout the midwest. In November
of 2002 the Low Down Brass Ensemble was invited to perform at the Nebraska
Music Educators Association Convention in Lincoln, Nebraska. During
the spring semester the UNO low brass studio hosts the annual Low
Brass Day featuring a guest artist, clinics, and a high school low
brass ensemble consisting of dozens of low brass players from the region.
